The heart of any troposcatter system is the troposcatter modem. As the modem performance and capabilities evolve, so does the entire system. The CS67PLUS is the first software-defined adaptive troposcatter modem and radio packaged in a compact sealed module.
This adaptive architecture is capable of supporting Line- of-sight (LOS) and Troposcatter beyond line-of-sight (BLOS) communications with a capacity of up to 210 Mbps of full duplex data throughput.
To maximize link availability and data throughput, the CS67PLUS features Adaptive Coding Modulation (ACM). ACM continuously selects the best modulation and error correction coding scheme on a frame-by-frame basis based upon troposcatter link conditions to continuously provide maximum throughput and link availability.
Transit Case Modularity
The modular design allows users to take a building block approach to deployment, only utilizing the cases needed for a specific mission objective with the ability to increase the power of the systems as those requirements change. The Radio Baseband Transit Case (paired with a C-Band antenna) can function as a stand-alone line-of-sight transmission system for short range and unobstructed links. The addition of a single RF case enables dual diversity troposcatter and diffraction links for medium range and obstructed communications. A second RF Case (with antenna) provides Quad Diversity troposcatter communications for maximum range.
The portable transit case design allows more flexible deployment options than traditional trailer or vehicle based troposcatter systems. The MTTS cases can be carried to areas that are inaccessible by vehicles in order to optimize transmission paths, as well as be transported inside a helicopter or SUV if required. Comtech offers a 2.4 m troposcatter antenna solution, but the MTTS is compatible with any C-band antenna using a troposcatter feed.

Trailer-Based Ultra-Portable Troposcatter System
The Comtech Transportable Communications Terminal (TCT) is a self-contained troposcatter system designed for rapidly deployable over-the-horizon communications. The TCT is based on the Comtech Transportable Fast Link Antenna (TFLA), and incorporates an entire quad diversity troposcatter terminal using a single automated angle-diversity antenna.
Utilizing this system, a trained two-man crew can achieve set-up and link activation in 45 minutes, providing up to 210 Mbps over-the-horizon communications well beyond the reach of other terrestrial transmission systems.
A variety of options and configurations are available, including single or tandem axles, removable or fixed troposcatter components, and options for on-board generators, UPS, and additional user-defined baseband equipment. Depending upon the specific configuration, the TCT can be towed by a light truck or airlifted via plane or helicopter as required.

Hardened Strategic Communications
Fixed troposcatter installations allow distant sites to maintain high data rate, low latency communications with a high level of availability. Capable of ranges upwards of 200 km, they can reduce the need for multiple line-of-sight repeater stations, eliminating additional infrastructure and manpower costs.
Fixed troposcatter sites are especially useful in the commercial energy sector as they provide a solid communications link from a shore site to an offshore platform that would otherwise need to rely on satellite communications. Troposcatter installations allow the operator to own the spectrum space being used, avoiding the high recurring cost associated with leasing satellite bandwidth.
For military applications, installing high-powered fixed troposcatter systems at strategic locations can allow militaries to establish high availability backbone networks to ensure critical communications. Fixed troposcatter installations can also act as a terrestrial backup to satellite-based networks to provide redundancy for critical communications.
